Nov 3, 2020, 7:10:47 PM

On October 30, 2020, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) announced plans to increase Canada’s immigration targets over the next three years as part of the government’s response to immigration shortfalls created by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The new targets are as follows:

  • 401,000 permanent residents in 2021 (previously 351,000)
  • 411,000 permanent residents in 2022 (previously 361,000)
  • 421,000 permanent residents in 2023

By increasing immigration targets, the Canadian government aims to spur economic recovery and job creation.
